Today's meeting of the Economic Co-ordination Committee has been canceled

Today's meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee chaired by Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh has been canceled. The meeting was to consider a six-point agenda.
According to Finance Ministry officials, the meeting was canceled due to busy schedule in the Prime Minister's House but a new schedule for the meeting will be released soon.
According to the agenda, duties and tax exemptions on commercial imports of sugar were likely to be approved, while holding tax was proposed to be reduced from 5.5 to 0.25 per cent and value added sales tax to 3 per cent.
Saudi officials were expected to receive tax breaks on equipment imports for the Road Tomka project.
Immigration and customs clearance of Pakistani pilgrims will now be at local airports. Like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta airports are also proposed to be facilitated.
